EN. At the end the WYLD Programme, our young people are tasked with identifying specific problems within the community and present a sustainable and enterprising solution to the problem they have identified. Not only is it a task in challenging them to demonstrate the leadership skills they have learnt, it is also a challenge to them to demonstrate good team work.
Here is what a team of our seven young people came up with:
Our journey through The Congo Tree was a great success and real proof that we need to succeed in our daily lives. We also learnt that we are called to solve certain problems in the community. This is really our responsibility and we have to work towards it. Not necessarily big problems but small ones that surround us in our living environments.
Thanks to our social action project, we have identified certain problems in the community and the biggest one we have seen is the abandonment of children by their fathers and this leads to children dropping out of school. This is a big problem in our community. As Young Leaders, we thought we could solve this problem at our own level, by providing an entrepreneurial solution that would allow them to pay for their studies.
We decided that we are going to start selling donuts commonly known in Goma as Ndazi. Thanks to the profits from this business we will be able to take care of the studies of five children and become part of their life stories. Of course it is not easy but we know that with our courage and determination, together we can do great things and achieve the great things we want to do. Our goal is to leave a mark on the hearts of these children for the rest of their lives. Even though they have been through very difficult circumstances and are very traumatized, we will give them a smile on their faces. Our vision is that in the long term these children who have been to school will do the same for others who will be in the same situation as them.
Here is just a little story of this young beneficiary of this social action.
“My name is MAHINA, I am 15 years old and I live in a complicated family where my father is unemployed and my mother sells embers. My father likes alcohol a lot and every time he is present in the house he is always fighting with my mother. My father doesn’t care about my studies and in my extended family nobody is interested in my studies. It’s been 4 years since I’ve been out of school and every time my mother reminds my father of my studies it’s like boosting him up to fight. For me life had no meaning, I saw myself as inferior to the street children and in my thoughts I had the idea of going so far away from my parents and associating myself with these children to see if I would at least have peace of mind. I live not far from Julienne the girl who is one of these young people and the only one who had interested others to come and see me about the project. Thank you to the team for spending time with me and motivating me to see that it’s possible for me to live my dreams by starting with little things. This pushed me to be part of this family that has confidence in me. At the moment I sell doughnuts right next door to our house and I’m going to save a little money so that I can continue with my studies. Thank you very much The Congo Tree for giving me the hope to live again. ”
FR. Sept Jeunes Voulant Résoudre Un grand problème
Notre Parcours dans The Congo Tree a été un grand grand succès et une preuve réelle que nous avons besoin de réussir dans notre vie de chaque jour. Nous avons compris aussi que nous sommes appelé a résoudre certains problème dans la communauté. Cela est vraiment notre responsabilité et nous devons travailler pour y arriver. Pas nécessairement des grand problèmes mais des petits qui nous entour dans nos milieux de vie. Grace a notre action sociale, nous avons identifié certains problèmes dans la communauté et le plus grand que nous avons eu à voir c’est l’abandon des enfants par leurs pères et cela pousse a un abandon de la scolarisation des enfants. C’est un grand problème dans notre communauté. Nous entant que jeunes Leader, nous avons pensé résoudre ce problème d’abord a notre niveau, en donnant une action entrepreneuriale pouvant leurs permettre de payer les études. Nous allons commencer à vendre les beignes communément appelle a Goma, le Ndazi. Grace au Bénéfice de ce commerce nous allons réussir à prendre en charge les études de Cinq Enfants et nous avons faire partie de leurs histoires de la Vie. Certes ce n’est pas facile mais nous savons que grâce à notre courage et détermination. Ensemble nous pouvons faire grand et accomplir Grand. Notre objectif est de laisse une empreinte dans le cœur de ces enfants pour toue une vie. Bien qu’ils ont traversé des moments trop difficiles et qu’ils sont trop traumatisé nous allons leurs donnés un sourire a leurs visages. Notre Vision est qu’à long terme ces enfants qui ont été scolarisé puissent les faires aussi pour les autres qui seront dans la même situation qu’eux.
Voici juste une petite histoire de ce Jeune bénéficiaire de cette action sociale.
« Je m’appelle MAHINA, je suis âgé de 15 ans et je vis dans une famille compliquée où mon père est sans occupation et ma mère vend des braises, mon père aime beaucoup l’alcool et chaque fois qu’il est présent dans la maison c’est toujours le combat avec maman. Mon père ne se souci pas de mes études et dans ma famille élargie personne ne s’intéresse à mes études. Sa fait 4 ans que je n’étudie pas et chaque fois que ma mère rappelle mon père de mes études c’est comme lé booster de faire le combat. Pour moi la vie n’avait pas de sens je me voyais inférieur aux enfants de la rue et dans mes pensées j’avais l’idée de partir aussi loin de me parents et m’associer avec ces enfants enfin de voir si j’aurais au moins la paix du cœur. J’habite non loin de chez Julienne la fille qui fait partie de ces jeunes et seul qui avait intéressé les autres à venir me voir concernant le projet, merci pour l’équipe d’avoir passé du temps avec moi en me motivant que c’est possible que je puisse vivre mes rêves en commençant par des petites choses et cela m’a poussé faire partie de cette famille qui me fait confiance. Actuellement je vends des beignets juste à côté de chez nous et je vais un petit épargne pour que je puisse continuer avec mes études.
